For most of their childhood, Elton and David were adamant about giving the boys a “normal” upbringing at their home in Old Windsor. However, as the boys have entered their “key decade” of adolescence, they have become a more visible support system for their father.
Prioritizing Family Over the Road
The timing of the boys’ growth coincides with Elton John’s official retirement from life on the road. Following the conclusion of his record-breaking Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, the music legend made it clear that his decision was driven by a desire to be present for his children’s teenage years.
“We’ve got our sons… they’re getting into their teenage years now,” David Furnish told reporters. “We don’t want to miss anything. We want to be present for that.”
This presence has become even more vital as Elton navigates recent health challenges. The singer has been open about his “limited vision” following a severe eye infection in 2024, as well as knee and hip replacements.
